Sippy cups

This is more of an informational post for moms. Anyway, we have made the transition to sippy cups. No more bottles! It only took 5 days, thanks to daycare! They recommended the transition and thought she could do it, so they helped us tremendously. They suggested the Nuby sippy cups. We had previously tried some of the Avent ones, but McKalie would rather chew on them than drink out of them. She had one milk sippy cup a day at daycare for 5 days and then we just quit cold turkey. She's adjusted well! She's a big girl now!!! So for all you moms, try the Nuby!

9 Month & Christmas Photos

We had McKalie's 9 Month and Christmas pictures taken today. She's actually almost 10 months old, but we were late getting them scheduled and they couldn't get us in until today. Anyway, it was a great experience once again. I think she has the same smile in all the pictures. We are blessed with such a happy baby. The photographer did a great job and we are so pleased with the pictures. I'm not sure why the slideshow is cutting off her head in half of them. I'll have to research that and fix it, but I still wanted you all to be able to see them. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!!

McKalie pulling up!

As I mentioned in a previous post, McKalie is pulling up now on things. She loves playing with her piano, and now standing up against it. Here's a video of her.

Sunday Nights at the Pierce's

We have family time and dinner at Jason and Mandi's every Sunday night with my dad. David's mom comes most of the time, and occassionally my aunt, uncle, and cousin will come over. We have a great time playing with the kids and spending time with the family. "Pops" as the grandchildren know him, bought McKalie and Lakin matching pj's, so we decided to take some pics around the Christmas tree.

McKalie is crawling....forwards!!!

McKalie has been crawling for some time now, but was only going backwards. She could also scoot around and roll to wherever she wanted to go. When daddy dropped her off at school on Wednesday one of the other little girls was playing with a toy that McKalie obviously wanted. When the little girl dropped it, McKalie took off going forwards! Daddy was so excited to witness it, and of course mommy was a little upset that she missed it. We have been bribing her since then with our phones and other electronic devices that she likes to get her to crawl. So from Wednesday until now, she has mastered the task and is all over the place. The video attached is from early this morning. I should have taken another one of her this evening at her faster pace, but I didn't get around to it. She's also pulling herself up on things and getting into just about EVERYTHING! Mommy wanted her to crawl so bad, now she's second guessing that thought!

Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! We are so thankful for each and every one of our family and friends. Thanksgiving was a little different this year without mom. We didn't make it up to D.C. this year, hopefully next year we will all be able to go. We had lunch at Jason & Mandi's and then went over to my aunt and uncle's house on my dad's side of the family. McKalie had sweet potatoe casserole and mashed potatoes. She loved them both! Here are some pics of her in her turkey day shirt and her indian headband that she made at school. Love to you all!

Shriner's Circus

McKalie goes to the circus! My Uncle Bob is a Shriner and he gave us tickets to the show. We only made it until intermission....it seemed to last forever! I remember being a kid and it didn't last long enough. Anyway, we got to see Uncle Bob drive around in his mini Corvette, the tigers, elephants, and some other things. We had a good time with Uncle J, Aunt Bird, Lakin, and Mandi's sister, her husband and kids.

Race for the Cure 2008

My work is a sponsor for Race for the Cure, so we walked in the race this year. We had to get up bright and early for our team photo, which was at 6:50 a.m. McKalie was a good trooper and didn't whine a bit. David wasn't able to make it because he had a coaching conference. Me and my girlfriends from work and two of their spouses walked the 3 mile course. Thanks to Jeremy for pushing McKalie the whole way....I'm not sure if I would have made it!! The other little girl in the pictures is Payton, my friend Alison's little girl. She's 12 months old and McKalie is bigger than she is! Payton is so precious...she's like a little porcelin doll. We had a good time and went to eat IHOP afterwards for breakfast. McKalie had pancakes for the first time!!

Race for the Cure 2008

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

McKalie was 6 Months old in August!! We had her pictures taken and had some taken as a family. I had surprised David for Father's Day with some pictures of just me and her, so he had to get some with just the two of them. She's as precious as can be!! At her 6 month checkup, she weighed 18 lbs 5 oz and was 27 inches long. She's a big girl!!! And she doesn't miss a meal! Her favorite toys these days are her jumper and her laptop computer. She has her two bottom teeth and the two upper ones look like they will be coming in soon. It's about time to start child-proofing the house....we are going to have a crawler any time soon. We love her to death and are having the best time with her. We don't ever want a babysitter because we don't want to miss out on anything. She's growing up so fast....it's hard to believe that she's already half a year old.

Beach - July 2008 We take a family trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama every year. This year was a little different....many of you know that my mom passed away in April of this year with a 2 year battle with cancer. The trip was definitely not the same, but we had a good time. McKalie and Lakin both loved the pool. We didn't make it down in the sand but a few times. It was just too hot for McKalie and Lakin wasn't too excited about the ocean. The Glasgow's joined us for the trip, as they do every year. The boys played golf every day and the girls took in the sun!!!

I've been recruited to blogging!

Ok, so my friend Alison has been bugging me to start a blog. I'm new at this, so it's going to take me some time to learn everything. Thanks Alison for setting it up for me! You have to check our her blog...she has all kinds of neat things on hers. I hope I can keep you all up to date as to what is going on in the Ball household. I may go back in time and show you some things from the summer, like our trip to the beach, etc. Hope you all enjoy!!
